Who Should you Optimize Your Website for?

After having studied search engine optimization (SEO) for a few years, I have come to the conclusion that optimizing your site for the search engines is redundant, and more of a waste of time than what the “SEO guru’s” have us to believe. Sure, search engine optimization will help to get your website noticed by the search engines, which in turn will bring your website visitors.

At the end of the day, it’s your visitors who will be reading your website. This is the reason behind my belief that we shouldn’t put so much focus on search engine optimization, but rather putting much more focus on user optimization (UO).

The best way to explain web pages is to look at a website as a magazine. Within a magazine you have different pages for different topics within a certain niche, well the same goes for your website. Your website is made up of pages that discuss different topics within your niche. The pages within your website are referred to as website pages or web pages.
